PRODUCT SAFETY RECALL

You can find the batch number on the base of the can, see the video at https://www.colorspec.com.au/product-safety-recall/ that shows where the batch number is and how to safely return the product to Supercheap auto for a refund of the purchase price.

Batch number 353221 is affected by this recall.

First you need to check the batch number and identify it is part of the recall.

Then if the product is from an affected batch, follow the video instructions https://www.colorspec.com.au/product-safety-recall/ to prepare and return it to Supercheap Auto.

If you take your recalled can to Supercheap Auto a full refund will be issued. 

No – the can will be sufficient proof of purchase to receive a full refund of the purchase price from Supercheap Auto.

If the recalled batch number 353221 is on the base of your can then it is not safe to use and you are advised to immediately stop using the product –  follow the video instructions at https://www.colorspec.com.au/product-safety-recall/ to safely secure the can then return to Supercheap Auto for a Refund.

Regardless of whether your can is half full or even near empty/empty and you have used it without incident, if

batch number 353221 is on the base of your can then it is not safe to use and you

are advised to immediately stop using the product

Refer to your product for correct mixing ratios.

To be issued a full refund, it must be returned to your nearest Supercheap Auto Store, not disposed of  https://www.colorspec.com.au/product-safety-recall/

Unless the Colorspec can you have is Base Coat paint with a recalled batch number, it’s safe to continue using as normal and is not eligible for a refund. You should follow all safety advice on the can.

Due to a manufacturing defect the valve may separate from the can body creating a projectile and expelling contents.

There is a risk of serious injury. This defect has occurred and caused injuries.

We ask that you still phone us on 02-8748-8407 or email recall@motoractive.com.au to advise us you are disposing of the can (please include batch number details) so we can record this in our stock count but you will not receive a refund for the product.

Use a cap from another aerosol. It may not clip in, but should allow you to roll it in the towel without the spray nozzle getting pressed

There are two reports of injuries associated with this issue.

MotorActive has received two reports of the valve separating under pressure out of hundreds of thousands of cans that have been distributed. Closely following the video instructions on how to secure and return the product to Supercheap Auto is the best way of minimising any risk of injury and safely disposing of the affected product.
